Well said. I do not particuarly like DL'S Work but I think the context of the war museum is more appropriate than that of the V&A.
Here it has the freedom to express, it is not battling for attention.
The Gug on 5th ave would not be the same if it had something like this near by, it works because it is a stand alone. We would fail to see it for its true beauty and originality if it was overshadowed by the likes of these. Merely a show or fight for centre stage without being able to appreciate finer details. WAY TOO MUCH TO DIGEST in one visit.
The v&a is very technologically advanced as are Ghery's recent projects for example the Gug in bilb but this is the only Bilb that we need in the world we do not need to see rehash after rehash on the theme dotted around the globe - the shock value has gone and the rehashes are just quite simply that.
Time after time you see students copying these so called new and fresh ideas - But anyone is capable of creating random and unconventional forms with the aid of highly sophisticated computer softwear. It hardly takes a genius does it? Add a touch of intellectualism and hey your the new Ghery/Hadid....etc. When is the bubble going to burst?
I can't wait until the day that students start dismissing these and again start to focus on working with Basic formal elements... a far more difficult task to create something that works as a 'Machine for living' don't you think? or is this boring?
