yes- flying blind, because no public, comprehensive description seems to be available which would detail and allocate causes...

I used to walk around Tribeca in the "70's; on a rainy day, the tops of the towers often vanished in the mist....

Looking at Manhattan, they always stood out from the skyline...

In 1945 and 1946, two airplanes struck Manhattan office buildings; this was well within the memory-span of the tower designers.

Those pilots, like ourselves, were "flying blind"...
