In a project desribed in another of my posts, we did in fact remove the roof before the new one was built. Tarps are useful, but not foolproof. We had two severe storms before completely enclosing the new sections. The leaks were minor and resulted in no damage, just some concern and inconvenience. We did find out what buckets were for, as Frank LLoyd Wright was reported to have said of his leaking roofs. Plastic membrane in the attic will hold a significant amount of rain water when placed between the ceiling joists with the ends propped up with 2X4 blocking.

May you always have sunny weather for your building projects. LOL
