Arthur Erickson, for those in other parts of the world who may not know, has been regarded as one of Canada's leading architects for many decades--I am hopeful that he is still active in practice, as he must be older than I.

How good to see a SECTION. In journals we get mostly well composed photographs, occasionally plans, but less frequently a section. The section is critical here because this urbane design is about making a PLACE, a public "garden" of architecture, as a gift to the city. This deference of the object to the figural space is inherently urbanistic.

If a bit overwrought for my taste, as always with Erickson, the work is beautifully wrought. There is nothing clunky or clumsy; this is very adroit design--the work of a real pro.
