what is curious about this project is that it is certainly not a bad scheme for Britain. Circle 33 who organised the competition have a long and real record of providing good housing (and that cannot be said of many in London) and were, if I remember rightly, started by architects in the very early 70's. The article is written by a very capable architect, Pierre d'Avoine.

Britain has become tangled up in its past, and does not know where it fits in today's world. This is not retro-design, at which the car designers are so good, but a design struggling with the past and, in the end, becoming trapped by it.
