Very difficult - the irony of Paul's comparison is that of course Corbusier's work was a design for urban living, whereas Bath was a piece of tourism design - in a sense an urban fake.

The fake works brilliantly, and the 'real' version has the totally opposite effect required for proper urban living or any living, a sense of place.

I can only say that I believe that Britain will have to go through a real social upheaval - the people will for once have to wake up - before anything will happen. I simply gave up on Britain - after living there all my life - so am perhaps the wrong person to answer.

To have a sense of place, a city needs to have a sense of pride in itself. For a city to have a sense of pride, the people need self-respect.
