I understand your viewpoint, however, I dont think it is dead at all, just more creative and innovative for the society that we have become. I recently read an article, that said the average american spends over 75% of their day indoors. This personally made me sad, but then I realized the truth behind this. We do spend most of our days, either in the office, in the home, etc., so therefore architecture has had to adapt more prevalently to these circumstances than before and that is seen thru the efficiency and creativity in our space planning, office design, home plans, retail etc... in which it adapts to this technological and information age that we are in.
I think post-moderninsm is still popular, and have recently noticed some architects beginning to blend this with a slight art deco influnce in new buildings today. Philip Johnson who is one of the most talented architects of our time, and is 90+ in age, is still designing buildings all over the country. I.M. Pei had some brilliant work created in the 90's that are some of my favorite to admire, but a new architect who is making a name for himself recently, is a guy named David Schwartz. He is one to keep an eye on. He has done buildings from hotels in Disney world to the new Bass performance arts center in Fort Worth, Tx ( which is just phenominal), to the Texas Rangers new ballpark in Arlington, which is one of the most spectacular designs of ball parks in the country.
Anyway, I dont think architecture is dead, perhaps only a bit different than before, but remember, that good architecture will always respond correctly to the society it is designing for. I think right now its doing just that.
