My impressions of Bard are mostly second-hand, but it seems to be regarded as an fine arts-oriented college--but not merely a vocational trade school, since it has a good educational reputation. I don't think that Bard has an architecture program, however (at least its not known to me, and I'm in the same state). Bard is well located, not far from New York City, which is an educational advantage, particularly given your interests.
