I agree in there being too much void in the world of if not rich famous architects as portraited in the magazines etc. Yet the isolationism even if of course elected -an error- may be some retreat to inner quarters as these not much enlightened viewers thought was convenient. The profession was being stripped of prerrogatives so maybe some decided if we create some elitist view the likelihood of success of the aggressors of our profession becomes less. Maybe the reasoning is entirely flawed, but surely caught as well in commissioners even less interested in the public good than the architects in retreat, for this way the election of the commissioned architect can more easily made on the flimsy support of fashion or whim, in reality supporting very practical -and not ethical- currents going underground.
