You say, "I really believe that we are on the edge of a "new" architecture..."

I share this hope, agreeing with Christopher Alexander, Nikos Salingaros, and others that we require "a new paradigm." But what is it to be? There's the rub.

I don't think that Jenks provides a sufficient foundation, but what other theorists have we? Probably it will be an architect, not a professional writer about architect, who will break new ground (or old ground, as the case may be). I'm inclined to suspect that the "progressive" ethic and aesthetic of modernism has already waned. High-tech is no longer cutting edge. Architecture has been cyclical, with a long history of revivalism, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a recurrence, even though the prospect seems horrifying to committed modernists.
