Jacques Pochoy, who is in Paris, might better report local opinion about Pei's glass pyramid. My feeling is that it's an intrusion, but if an intrusion was required, this is reasonably minimal. But did it have to be an object (even if transparent?) Why couldn't there simply have been a sunken portion of the court, with glass walls opening onto it, and escalators taking people down within the court?

Architects (especially modern architects) tend to visual objects as solutions to all problems. A landscape architect or urban designer might have proposed something more appropriate.
