I am not an architect and I am not retired.

Birmingham's history as the light industry capital of Britain I am indeed familiar with (I call it the British Midlands because many of the people on this Forum are from the USA and there is another Birmingham - I am sure the Alabama White Knights would be happy to send you their details).

as for city planning, and some of the contemporary buildings that I have seen in Birmingham, I consider them inappropriate and ugly. That applies to the buildings, not the people.
