Which contemporary buildings do you have in mind? Are you sure you are not getting 'Brum' confused with Birmingham, Alabama, USA?

As for "Birmingham as the light industry capital of Britain",(sic) well you learn something new everyday! "Light industry" (sic)like Jaguar cars at Castle Bromwich, Land-Rover's at Solihull, MG's and Rover's, Longbridge-I must check the dictionary definition of 'light industry': Cadbury chocolate, Bournville;er Boulton & Watt, Soho!
