It is a real shame to hear of the demolition of a Neutra House. One day while standing out in front of Neutra´s VDL Research House II in Silverlake CA with my camera, an elder woman drove up, got out and entered it. Minutes later she popped her head out the door and said "Mrs. Neutra says you can come in and look around if you would like". It turns out the woman was a pianist there to accompany Mrs. Nuetra who played the cello. What a treat, listening to them play as I wandered about the entire house.

I think to be really effective the Preservation Community should ally itself with the commercial sector. The suggestion of "a better program of public information and education" by Mr. Paul Malo can take the form of illustrated talks by local architects to groups of realtors educating them to the architectural heritage at their feet and they in turn educate their client. One could also promote architectural heritage through the tourist board and business of the community with informative brochures, maps, talks and tours. In this way the education can be self sustaining though superficial. It can act as the starting point for further study by the interested.
