an idea which happens in London and Paris (and possibly other cities) is an 'open door day'. A lot of buildings, including architects' homes and many others not normally open to the public, are open to the public on a particular day. A list of them is published and people can go and visit.

It has become very popular and can often make people aware of houses which are otherwise not accessible, as with private homes - like the Neutra houses.
