Too true, They also (almost always) promise a rise in local employment. Funny, most of these things are constructed elsewhere and shipped in two parts to be erected by contractors. Only ever needing a filter change every now and again. There are several of these near where I live in a built up area, right next to the road and housing.
The wurring sound is so relaxing...lol

My concern is not so much the turbines but where they put them.
