Speaking as an architect (who designs) rather than total buildings sold as complete packages, I would favor larger components--say a standard, prefabricated bathroom unit, delivered on a truck, that could be installed and connected with a few fittings. Unfortunately when this was tried, as a way of making housing more affordable, plumbers unions killed the innovation (this was in New York City where the cost of housing is excessive and the number of homeless disgraceful).
