These buildings were typical of many modern skyscrapers in that the designers made all kinds of stupid assumptions about what would happen in the event of emergencies. Add this to the FACT that the WTC towers were BADLY engineered and you have a certain disaster waiting to happen. It had little to do with terrorists.
