john, you state at the end of your post that: time flattens distinctions
such between works with similar forms...but the history of architectural theory is about ideas and not just the shapes they makes),and i think that's exactly what Tishop was implying for, what he meant i guess ,that both architects were under the influence of a common stimulator or a common effective philosophical factor(IDEAS).
you said :"Gaudi was a very devout catholic and his work is based on the imitation of NATURE(and in turn,GOD's design)....just as NATURE(GOD)reveals itself.on the other hand let us see what kind of influence was on steiner undergoing!
Theosophy!which is according to the defenition:a religious philosophy or speculation about the nature of the soul based on mystical insight into the nature of GOD!
but to be more accurate Steiner- in the year 1913- has commemorate his seperation from the Theosophic society towards the foundation of the Anthroposophica, needless to say that his first Gotheanum in dornach was built between(1913-1923),Steiner even offered his own definition of "Anthroposophy"to the encyclopedia britannica,Anthroposophy was according to him a path of knowledge leading the spirit in man to the spirit in the universe(see the link below),which in my opinion follows the same stream of Gaudi's spirituality.
there's few other things i want to inspect it with you, what did you mean by the end of "madness"of history, don't you find it a radical point of view!
second you had linked (Mies) with the machine expressionist qualities, can you elaborate more, finally i think there's one critical point you missed it in comparing Ronchamp with Gotheanum, which i believe (functionality) is a critical issue beside symmetrical analysis.
we can have a good clearer example if we have to compare let us say Paul Rudolph Interdenominational chapel,Tuskegee,Alabama with the Ronchamp(corb),they may followed the same realm of thoughts in the two designs.
