The destruction of this fine house has only just come to my attention. The circumstances as described in the New York Times magazine leave many questions unanswered. First, the ignorance of the local authorities in granting the demolition permit. The house must have been familiar to locals. Who was the contractor who tore it down and why in such haste? To forestall an outcry? What plans do the owners have for the site and why pay 2.45 million for it without the structure; perhaps they plan to buy the golf course? Six months later I would like to know what information has surfaced about this incredible desecration.
