I disagree, as space frames, geodesic domes, and pyramid structures do a great job of carrying while distributing loads along the diagonal axes.... it just depends on an integrated design, where the members act as a whole... the loads are carried by all members, being distributed beautifully! We are too used to thinking in terms of a column or beam carrying a distributed load for a particular area... this is square thinking.... Perl is thinking in 3D....
