Some great commentaries have been posted on this site, with respect to the worthiness of new systems of design of structures. More precisely, the value of diagonal distributed structural systems.
One of the postings previously on the site offered the first true unique defense of diagonality and the advantages of thinking in terms of diagonal forces, and diagonal distributions of loads, on this forum. This is what we need, we are too boxed in our thinking, in traditional scholastics, of a building, under traditional structural theory, needing to resist lateral wind forces...earthquake forces with shear plates, movement connections,....lateral wind loads...vertical live and dead loads... this has led us into a live dead debate over the aesthetics of the proletariat humble bumble....or the german gestapo ginger box house...rather then the double domain of double helix or hexahedrical humble hives of honeycomb diagonal stress systems.... itīs high time engineeers and architects awaken to the new call, before boat builders and honeycomb livers drive us into our caves searching for better solutions to the modern perplexes of flimsy Japanese light-weight solutions, aimed only at efficiency and economy, dis-regarding real live conditions in the future, that could jeopardize the huf puf blow me down syndrome we fall into when we get into pigsy democratic traditional thinking...
Letīs wake up, before it is too late...
