"It will be fascinating to see how some of these egos work together"

That is what I don't understand in the process. How do the teams "work together"? The news release says they will "come together" but then it says when the most promising ideas are selected "those firms" (sic) will be invited to continue. Are they really coming together or are they presenting competing concepts. And it looks like there will be a short short list after this.

incongruent quotes?

"...some of the world’s most talented architects and planners will come together this fall to participate in a design study of the World Trade Center site and adjacent area...."

"The six teams will each receive a $40,000 stipend to work on creating plans for the site and surrounding areas based on new, more flexible program requirements being developed by the LMDC and Port Authority...." ( Hey ! Short time frame! TWO bureaucrazies are still developing the program(s) and the creation of plans will apparently begin before they all "come together" this fall)

"At the end of the study, LMDC and the PA will select the most promising ideas from those generated during the study, and invite those firms to work with LMDC and PA’s consultants to refine and develop the ideas into site plan proposals...."

Any insight into process? Is this a fierce competition for the first huge project ot the 21st century or a congenial design studio mixer?
