America does seem to be in an excessive hurry.

A hurry for a memorial - why ? Note that the authorities tried to sweep the whole thing away with their original six schemes.

Most of those on the shortlist do have other work to do. Should they stop everything because America wants ........ wants what ?

The site is large and complex. It needs careful consideration. There is a remarkable similarity between this unseemly haste over a memorial and the rushing into an avoidable war.

Anybody studied Austrian history of the second decade of the last century ? A bit obscure ? Most of you from western Europe will have lost members of your family as a direct result of what happened then - but it did give Europe a lot of practice in designing memorials.
