I recently visited a friend who was building a timberframe cabin using SIPs for roof, walls and floors (he was using the thermpan products - www.thermapan.com). Seems very appealing given the ease of installation, insulation efficiency, less wood consumed, and so on.

I reviewed some manufacturers' sites with background on SIPs, but could anyone summarize any more critical views on the use of SIPs?? For example, the durability of the insulating core ("the white stuff", typically some kind of foam core, many claiming to be CFC-free), etc.

thank-you in advance//
