organic implies "growth".
so by observing the settlement, one can make out if the growth has occured...and in which particular fashion.....
say, linear or radial .....

while as for random planning, growth is replaced by unplanned development.
development is different from growth coz it is not necessarily supported by "changing cultural, demographic, environmental needs".
