This question is bigger than just how work gets produced. What will it mean to office space when everything goes wireless? What becomes of the meeting room when everyone has a portable "cell phone" that can not only talk to a server, but provide a portal to real-time video conferencing? What does it mean when our desk tops are "intelligent" enough to differentiate us from the next individual and provide for us our personal work data as well as our personal climate requirements, simply thru profile recognition? How about when our refrigerator realizes when we are out of milk and knows when to send an order to the computer at the grocery store? These possibilities are real; the technology is here. The implications to how we inhabit spaces, and therefor what we design in the future are great. This is another kind of "e-architecture". The firms that can understand this and react to this early will find themselves in a much better position to market themselves 10 years from now.
