My two choices were draw comics and to be an architect, but by the process described above.
By the way I instead of going directly to the capital Madrid to study made 1 course, the 1st of engineering (common for all engineering branches then) here, in Zaragoza, where I live. I passed it well, and was a bit more "mature" (er, I THINK no one has ever been such thing) so I was allowed then to proceed to architecture where the course made was worth nothing. Some of my love for the technical field may derive from such experiences at such -to my eyes now- tender years.
This curiously points to some disengagement deeply in me from architecture. Well, maybe not just about architecture, I am becoming disengaged on lots and lots of things, and further than that, I think that is correct for me. I cannot blind my understanding to enslave my mind to just an obsessive professional practice, even is so enthralling as architecture can be. The fact is that the practice I have been able to develop has not been enthralling, very contrarily has lots to do with overcoming all kind of difficulties ranging from the miserable to the just ordinary, and so it is no wonder I have evolved this way.
I still keep inside deep appreciation for those that along the ages dedicated their lives or part of their lives to leave us buildings that impress us with ingenuity and beauty. What I have lived entitles me a bit to gauge how many the difficulties must have been before they attained such highs in creativity.
