I have to admit that I just don't get the attraction to Holl's work. Its not particularly innovative, or tectonic, or contextural, or spatial. Its not particularly anything. It is spare and reserved, but so is a lot of work out there. Don't get me wrong, I like it better than a lot of what's out there, but why is he always on the A list? Is it about the mood of the drawings? or the words that go with the work?
