I think there is an expectation of "This Old House" relationship with architects. And perhaps it is advertising the profession to get people familiar with the procedures of designing with an architec,t and seeing the process and roles of all the players in the construction of houses. People are becoming more educated in house design and remodeling subjects as they include these subjects in their entertainment. Some of these TV builders may be the antithesis of architecture, some are just showing the nuts and bolts of the process and are actually following plans by architects.
