Hello all,

I am a programmer and would like to know if there is a web site or
tutorial or the like that explains the relationship between the shape
of a house's exterior walls (in top view) and the resulting
hips/valleys/ridges that must fit on that shape. I have deduced that
there are some basic principals in that for example (assuming
right-angle walls) an acute angle produces a hip and an obtuse angle
produces a valley and where two 45-degree hips intersect they produce
a ridge.

However I would appreciate something that fully explains the
relationships/rules.

Thanks very much.
