it is not unique to Islamic art - but exists in Christian art as well. After creating some of the great icons and interiors in Russian cathedrals some of the contemporaries of the greatest of the painters, Rublev, were blinded.

all the world's great religions teach humanity - people should be careful of blaming the religions for their misrepresentation by arrogant cruel individuals. Are we too civilised for this sort of behaviour today ?
