absolutely right - well-known architects are open to being used as marketing-tools to help raise finance and give credibility to projects where credibility (and therefore finance) may otherwise be lacking.

some are tough and realistic enough to avoid this trap - some are not.

it comes down to the myth of the "global vision". It is based on incompetent people playing at being important and successful. A decent project properly worked out would not need such tricks.

the article that Martin posted is right - people should simply speak out. On the other hand, if they don't care enough to speak out, then they can hardly complain later.
