Message - CAD Research

I am doing some research into CAD packages used within architecture. It seems that AutoCAD (PC) is the most commonly used, but it has been reported to me from various sources that AutoCAD is probably not the best package for architecture. If that is true, why is it so common?

Any comments, please ?
