The arrogance of the entire idea of rebuilding is astonishing, and can only be conceived by a conceited city and a conceited nation. Whichever shceme is chosen (and one will be), it will ultimately serve to glorify once again the 'indomitable spirit' of the world hegemon, now dragging us into an unprecedented war without winners. There is no architectural response to the challenge presented by the destruction of the WTC.
