I find this type of question so unbearably ponderous...

Of course architecture will change, and, yes, it is desirable.

Did the cavemen debate the development of the spear?
Did Gutenberg fret about the cultural ramifications of the printing press?
Did Aalto self-consciously consider the conseqeunces of bending plywood?

Innovation occurs to fill actual human needs. This is called progress, and it's good.
