Why is everyone so afraid of a traditional monument
sure modern styles are in vogue now but in 30 years they may be considered eyesores wouldnt it be more fitting to build something that represents resilience against time. Personaly i believe the structures proposed to be inappropriate they are being designed because they're "cool" but soon they'll be as out as bell bottoms and mini-busses why does it have to be a structure of great size anyway wouldn't it be just as nice to have a large park where people could congregate and enjoy themselves. a smaller structure in the middle could be built to incorporate names photographs and artifacts. People would go there to have fun or play but they cannot escape the memory...they will venture inside the building and remember. We're not building a formidible corporate headquarters we want to attract people not have them say "aw its just another ugly tower" even in the far future a park will attract visitors who, again, will enter the memorial and learn to remember. They wont flock to an overbearing depressing building we wat to build an eden.... an oasis in the middle of the urban sprawl to represent the paradise the victims reside in.....we dont want there memories to reside in a hellish mountain of steel and glass, heartless, emotionless, but a living garden of peace and remebrance......
think on what i have said....
