I think if Aalto had been a true precedent on this project then we would have referenced him in the interview with USG. As it turned out, the solution came from discussions about the space and what we wanted it to be for the students. The Curvatura system was initially intended to only be a way to seam the new and existing spaces. It eventually grew and expanded in the high addition area. Aalto was never a part of the discussions but easily could have been. As for the acoustics in the other post, we had specified acoustic panels to line the walls but held off to see how the owner liked the space compared to their existing cafeteria. The acoustics are actually better and we did end up covering up the ground face block that was installed.
