Gary, below is a link to a quick blurb from an independent source you can read to fill in some of the historical background on "the International Style".

Note the names of the authors of the book associated with the 1932 MOMA exhibit. They were the curators of the exhibit, which coined the term. Seems a bit different from being converts picked up later.

I stand by my earlier comments.
