I think all accreditation and licensure programs are only as relevent as people think they are. When a large percentage of those affected by them begin to question that relevency, it can mean either of two things: (1) the governing body in question is, indeed, no longer serving the interests of the public or the profession, or (2) those decrying that the governing body is irrelevent are simply misinformed and wrong. I'll leave it to you to decide which it is in this case.
