Message - Terrain generation

I wish to get a 3d solid or mesh (preferably solid) from a group of contour lines made of autocad polylines. I've tried Autodesk Viz 4 terrain generator plug-in with no luck (no smooth terrain). I've also tried 3DField but it requires to enter a value for each contour line (wich is pretty long if you have 70 or 80 of them). Does anybody have a clue on getting such 3D entities in an easy way?

Any help would be much appreciated
