Yes,the SRO or lodging house has been a part of the urban landscape since the first cities and needs to be reinvented,it is a part of a mosaic of housing styles that make up a diverse city...not one style fits all housing like we have now,but a choice of lifestyles and housing styles,,,also,why should one spend all their income on housing as it is today???I have lived in SROs years ago before Urban removal and i loved it,of course it has to be human scaled,not great big Ghettos,but we lived in an SRO in a nice neighborhood near the Library and the Museums and the museums had a cafe,,and i was only paying 35 dollars a week for a simple room which allowed me to work only part time and devote more of my life to other pursuits like self improvement and hobbies and philosophy..
