Dear Richard,

"Not in our name". It's an insistent protest over here, if you haven't heard the phrase.

You can't assume a person's point of view.

Enough said, as I err from the forum topic. There is the fireside lounge or other forums to berate American citizens for our shame.

But I am anti-skyscraper myself. Life and fire design looks for a "reasonable" level of safety. No matter what the emergency, skyscrapers are not designed for any reasonable escape, whereas low-rise buildings are scrutinized to ridiculous levels for egress requirements.

You may have a point on the cover-up and non-enforcement issues. I don't have that information. Any sources?

ICBO makes the codes. That's INTERNATIONAL Conference of Building Officials.
