what you say is very reasonable - and I do not believe that ordinary Americans are anti-French or, in reality, anti-anybody.

Chirac said that to accuse the French of being anti-American was "ludicrous", and it is. The French like Americans; they always have.

But the other point that he made was more important: it is our real friends who tell us when they believe that we are going down a wrong path. The French truly believe that the route chosen is bad for America, as well as for France. (Those that agree with everything that we say in the hope of a handout are not real friends, are they ?)

The reason that the statements by people like Rumsfeld are so serious is that they can lead to racial-stereotyping; a form of justified hatred which was exactly what the Nazis did to the Jews. It spreads like fungus.

I believe that there were 22 nations involved in arming Saddam (don't misunderstand the French - nobody likes the little thug) - so a lot of people have different interests, but there is one country which has no apparent financial interest in Iraq. That tiny state is called the Vatican.

The Vatican says that World War Three has already started.

That would not be good for America, France, or anybody else.
