thanks kevin. What do you think about his window idea-- use fixed glass windows and make little screened vent doors to ventilate? That seems like a good idea to me. Also his ideas about acoustics seem good, I can see that deliberately making walls not plumb could create complications in construction. Yes, his approach to house layout seems excellent. He doesn't like shingles much, I find them more attractive than other methods of siding so I would use them on a wooden house. I'm planning a house right now, is why I'm interested in all this.
