One very good source of information is the NGO, Centre for Science and Environment at New Delhi. They have many publications and even a database on the various works that happenning on ground (or wherever rain water can be stored!!) around this part of the world.

In fact, one will be surprised to note how effectively and in what a widespread manner these intiatives are being taken and are bearing its fruits. CSE even organizes what is calles "Paani Yatras" for one and all to see these intiatives for themselves.

You could get in touch with them. Their URL is "" i think .. in any case you can go into a search engines and punch the name and location, and it will crop up.

All the best. If you have an interesting story to tell on this matter ... succes or failure whatever .. I am all ears!!!
