Dr. Yusuf Ben Yochanan writes extensively on ancient Egypt(also known as Kemet). Cheikh Anta Diop does as well. Both are noted historians.
From any of their various books you can find the comprehensive history/breakdown of Egyptian mythology. A good starter book that will have lots of references to these and other authors is "Nile Valley Contributions to Western Civilization" by Anthony Browder. I doubt that any of these books are easily found in mainstream bookstores but if you have African American owned bookstores in your area, this may be a good place to search.
Once you start to uncover the mystery you will be so drawn it will be hard to go back to seeing things the way you have your entire life!
Bon chance and happy learning Alison.
