More generaly speaking, I say that art has become a social skill. Rather than expanding our vision arts is narrowed to perform the same play over and over again , a game about money and clotches all to often.
The challance in architecture today, is as you point out even more difficult, as you will not find one single true artist, who's idears havn't been corrupted into anything else than it originaly was.
Just every bright work been pulled apart and I am quite sure, that what academics claim about most major Icon, is feast talk that the architect have to hide his laugh about.
Problem is not Art, but the poor condisions for art and artists , in a art world that forgot the beauty.
