fakework..

We build miles and miles of suburban houses, all the same way. You can have a tudor house by placing some 1x6 on the front of the house, like so: /\. Or perhaps you would like an igloo by placing a half-circle of styrofoam under the soffits, just above the aluminium siding. Or an adobe house by just having the neighborhood kids throw mud at your house.

Or just paint the front of the house white and project whatever architectural style you like that night. Nobody's home during the day so that should be OK. That would save on materials.

Maybe I'm too cynical, people are worried about pennies per square foot and enjoy their homes regardless of the token aesthetics but it still feels empty to me.

What would a surburban home look like that was true to it's function which I guess is to provide the most sqft for the money and to conform to code and the plan? Would it be tolerable?
