I do not know exactly what had happend, I only can suppose.

The problem might be not in the files, but in the monitor/display settings. When the image is a high resolution image and when it has thousands or even billions of colors, but the display is set to 256 or less colors, the high resolution images can not be seen correctly.

To verify my theory try to change the settings of your display or try to open the "damaged" files in the different computer.

But if the files are really damaged... then, sorry I can not help here. Hope it is not that bad. Best wishes!
